Holy Thursday:

“ Are you going to wash my feet!?” asks Peter as Jesus begins this action. “There’s no way on God’s earth are YOU going to wash MY feet! Jesus is communicating something central to his message here and Peter gets it…but doesn’t like it!
Then Jesus asks: “Do you understand what I have done? You’ve been calling me Lord and master and in the old system that is correct. We’ve been living in a world organised in terms of lords and servants. What I have just shown you is what I think of lordship. When the ‘lord’ acts as a ‘servant’, then being a ‘lord’ or a ‘servant’ doesn’t mean anything anymore. Lords and servants is not a good way for us to think of our relationships. What I have done is destroy the whole concept….. I will no longer call you servants but friends. There is to be no distance between us… We are friends, all equal…”
Friendship either discovers or creates equality. Equality is the keynote of friendship as it was the keynote of all Jesus’ ministry, and it has numerous implications.

Good Friday:

Jesus spent his public life preaching a God whose love was abundant, overflowing, unconditional and for everyone – without exception. Such a message was unacceptable, too much. He had to be got rid of…. Hence the crucifixion.
Holy Saturday: From Good Friday and Easter Sunday there is a great hush, a great silence, a great pause, as though nothing moves and all nature holds its breath…. We are in the presence of the Infinite; we are in fact in the Infinite.
Easter Sunday:

Jesus rises from the grave. As his disciples we, too, rise with him… “We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. ‘ (1 John 3:14 )

Eirene, Lisa and Mary
wish you all peace and abundant blessings
this Easter season.
